Having
grown up in central Florida, I have seen many changes to our environment. Being
a naturalist at heart these changes intensified my desire as an artist to endeavor
to capture as much of what’s left of old natural Florida on canvas, for others
to enjoy. I have been painting for 25 years. I developed my own SOFT
REALISM style of paintings using layered glazes, which gives a softer, luminous,
lifelike look to my work. I want my paintings to be lifelike but not photo realistic.
Glazing enables me to achieve this. I lose my self in my work, and some of my
best works have evolved, as I get further along in the painting, many times turning
out different than I had planned. I have been exhibiting my art work at art shows
and galleries 28 years now. I see paintings almost everywhere I look,
especially when traveling. Some of my favorite subjects are Florida’s vanishing
wetlands, shorelines, historic homes and gardens. I work from my photos and sketches
I take from trips, also frequently from memory. A trademark of my Florida landscapes
is a large sky. Most of mine have this. It is my hope that there will
be those that enjoy my work as much as I enjoy creating it. You may view
