Mary
J. has taught art in Public and Private schools and local art centers.
Her talents have been applied to murals, portraits, still life, landscape
and photography. Her extensive travels in Europe, Mexico, and the
U.S. have led her to her current interest in Plein Air painting.
Artists Statement: “I enjoy working from life. The whole process is
energizing. Whether the subject matter is a still life, a live model,
or a landscape, all senses are brought into play and I am totally
immersed in capturing the timeless and immediate nature of the subject
before me.”
In the mid-80’s, she was founder and President of Women In Art, Inc.
in the Thornton Park area of Orlando, Fl. She organized and participated
in many art exhibits and provided workshop and studio space for artists.
Family business and travels out of the country kept her away from
painting for several years, but she photographed and sketched in many
countries. In ‘97, she began painting en plein air and chasing the
blue shadows of Key West, Fl.
She is presently Program Director/PR Dir. for Central Florida Plein
Air Artists (CFPAA), and has helped organize many exhibits in the
Central Florida and East Coast area. In 2004, she helped produce a
calendar for 2005 which included art work by members of CFPAA, which
were distributed at Disney World.
