In high school Linda knew she wanted to be an art or English teacher. She received an AA Degree from Seminole Jr. College and graduated from U.C.F. with a MA Degree in Art Education. While at U.C.F. she was instructed by Johann Eyfells who she will always remember as a mentor. She has taught art at The Pinecastle Center of the Arts, Lockhaven Art Center, Orange County Community adult art classes and in the Orange County Public School System for 32 years. Now retired she shares an art studio with her husband in Kissimmee, Fl. and they promote their work in galleries, art shows and at www.handleyartstudio.com.

Linda works in many mediums including B/W photography ( with enamel and toners ), mixed media and sculpture. Currently she is concentrating on batiks and painting. Her batiks and paintings have been exhibited in group and solo exhibitions in Florida. Linda starts her batiks simple and realistically so they will not become abstract during the process. Her batik technique is free with fast brush strokes which has given her more freedom when she paints with acrylics. Her acrylic paintings start with a feeling, taken from a song or personal experience, that matures into a visualized idea on canvas. She incorporates meaning which is then left to the perception of the viewer. As her paintings begin to flow with correct composition, she selects colors to portray the mood. The work is stopped when the message is complete.
