Employing
strong elements of form, design and color, artist Linda Amundsen creates
dramatic compositions from natural settings.
Born in Illinois, Linda studied art in Chicago, and continued her
art education after moving to Florida, at the University of Central
Florida. Enamored with the tropics, many of Linda's paintings feature
the vibrant foliage, lush palm trees, and beach scenes indigenous
to the area. And in addition to her tropical themes, she is equally
adept at still life studies, landscapes, golf course scenes and abstract
work.
An avid traveler, Amundsen approaches each trip as a research project
for future paintings. Taking photographs and drawing thumbnails during
travel to such diverse locales as the American West and Scandinavia
enables Linda to recreate and embellish scenes and memories on canvas.
Among her many honors, Linda has garnered numerous First Place and
Merit Awards in competitions across the country. Her painting, Sea
Grapes, was juried as one of the top entries for 1998 in the highly
competitive Arts for the Parks competition in Jackson Hole, WY, and
Reaching for the Sky has been name one of the finalists of 2002.
Linda's work is shown in galleries, museums and public exhibitions
throughout the country, and she maintains affiliations with several
art organizations including the Orlando Visual Artist League, Orange
County Artist League, National League of American Pen Women, Oil Painters
of America, and Women's Caucus of the Arts -
