| Born in Poughkeepsie, New York, but spending most of her life in Florida, Kathi is passionate about photographing a variety of subjects. From the ethereal energy of macro floral photography and garden goddesses to the vibrant energy of children and pets, Kathi captures their magical world on film. Both an artist and business owner of Dancing Light Photography, Kathi compassionately creates amazing works of art for her clients, from custom greeting cards to large scale canvas pieces. Her very unique piece, titled "Garden Goddess" won a "BEST OF SHOW" AWARD at the Orlando Downtown Art & Living Expo, May 20, 2006. It exudes an illusionary 3D quality as a result of using a reverse macro lens with her Pentax Spotmatic F 35mm SLR camera. Currently a member of The Center for Fine Art Photography, Kathi was formerly a Charter Member of the Orlando Visual Artists League (OVAL) and participated in numerous art shows throughout Central Florida in connection with OVAL. "She Simply Snapped" was the name of her photography business from 2000 through 2003, under which name she created a greeting card line and various mediums of photo art. Under her current business name, "Dancing Light Photography", she continues to photograph people, places and things that are close to her heart, offering her clients heartfelt memories that will last a lifetime. She has displayed her work at Gallery M on Park Avenue in Winter Park, Florida and was invited to exhibit at The Winter Park Public Library for the month of October 2005 with rave reviews. She also participated in the following Art Festivals: The Veranda Park Artisan Market in MetroWest Orlando, The 31st Annual Mt. Dora Juried Arts Festival, The Maitland Juried Spring Festival of the Arts at Lake Lily, The 22nd Annual Melbourne Juried Art Festival in Historic Downtown Melbourne and the Orlando Downtown Art & Living Expo at Lake Eola Park, where she received a "BEST OF SHOW" AWARD. Kathi was invited to participate in the "Floral Fantasies" Art Exhibition at the Leesburg Center for the Arts, which was on display this past May through June 2006 and was also invited to exhibit her artwork at the Harry P. Leu Gardens Garden House from August through October 2006. Kathi was among 70 artists who recently participated in the Florida Artists Registry Members Juried Exhibition at the CityArts Factory Gallery in downtown Orlando. She was invited this year to be part of the "Great Holiday Gift Show" at the Mt. Dora Center for the Arts, as well as being selected to participate in "The Four Wall Project" at the Plaza Theater in Orlando, Florida featuring the artwork of four talented women artists. She was also honored to have been invited by Bank of America, the Altamonte Springs Branch to display 13 large pieces of her artwork for 3 months. For the month of December 2007, Kathi is exhibiting her art at the fabulous Dandelion Communitea Cafe, front dining room, 618 N. Thornton Avenue, Orlando. Artist's reception is Thursday evening, December 6th, 2007 from 9:00 to 11:00 PM. Her mission statement for her art and her life is summed up as follows: "Go out into the world, sharing your Divine talents and gifts, embracing each soul you meet with a smile and an open heart. In so doing, you cannot help but live a blessed life.......knowing your connection with others makes a difference." |
