want my work to reflect the many realities currently facing people: change, trying
to make order out of chaos, being able to control one’s own destiny and rebelling
against the hypocritical forces that try to make everyone fit into the mold those
forces try to impose on others. Born in the Bronx, N.Y. July 20, 1938 Judith started taking oil painting classes in 1995 in Boca Raton and since then has developed her own style of abstract expressionism using palette knives for her oils on canvas. She moved to Maitland in 2002 and attends Maitland Art Center classes taught by Kaye Callaway and Crealde School of Art classes taught by Nancy Jay. Her painting reflects her reactions concerning order, chaos, planning, conflicts as well as reflections on the places she has traveled to. The artist whose work she most admires is Judy Chicago. She also admires the work of Vincent Van Gogh and Jackson Pollock, feminist artists in general and women artists of the past who had to fight just to be able to produce their art. Judith is member of the Women’s Caucus for Art, the Maitland Art Center, Orlando Visual Artist League and the Orlando Museum of Art. She is Vice President and a board member of WCA/CFL. She is a resident studio artist at COMMA, Orlando, Florida. Exhibitions: Judith began entering juried exhibitions in the spring of 2004. Her work was juried into QAC in April 2004 and 2005 and OVAL/WCAFL/WCS Juried joint show June to August 2004. In addition in July 2005 her work was juried into the Crealde School of Art’s 25th Annual Juried Student Exhibition and the Women’s Caucus for Art’s National Juried Exhibition “Re-visioning” exhibited at the Maitland Art Center. From September 20th to October 28th 2005 her work will be part of the “Transcendence” Public Art Exhibit at Casselberry, FL City Hall. |
