| My education in the art and science of photography began more than 40 years ago. For most of those years, photography filled only the role of a hobby as I provided for my family by working in an industry where artistic expression was not highly valued. My retirement from that vocation several years ago has allowed me to pursue my photographic and artistic interests full-time. True to my beginnings in photography, my current work consists exclusively of the traditional forms and techniques of the medium. For me, there is no substitute for capturing/creating an image on old-fashioned emulsion film and then using the magic of light and everyday chemicals to transfer that image to archival fiber-based paper that will last for a hundred years and more. As for subject, my aim is to capture images that make me smile with recognition and appreciation and reassure me that there is still beauty, wonder, and mystery in this world. Life is great.
