I am a fifth generation native Floridian with deep roots in the Central Florida area. I love to paint from memory and pictures what I remember as a small child of the way Florida was then. I want to paint a simpler time although not an easier time but without so much asphalt and concrete and telephones. My greatest desire is to bring a sense of peace and rest to a stressed out world through the depiction of The Real Florida in my paintings. I feel so blessed to be doing what I am doing and I thoroughly enjoy it.

I have not had any formal training but have taken a few workshops and do a lot of reading and studying on my own. I give God the credit for any ability or talent I might have and it is all for His glory and honor and by His grace that I even attempt this.- Barbara J. Alderman
